HD11 Clutch

Recently purchased a HD11 that had just had the motor replaced. The clutch was fine before the replacement, it now slips bad. Is there any adjustments I can make other than the connecting rod under the floor board?

The pressure plate is adjustable. You excess it through the inspection hole(s) on top of the bellhousing. To adjust it you have to release the adjustment lock. When you look at the pressure plate you will see a ring through the holes in the pressure plate cover and the ring has notchs cut in one edge about 4 or 5 per inch. On one of the holes in the pressure plate cover is the lock. You'll probably have to roll the engine roll to locate it (unless you're much luckier then me) just tap the starter. You can put the tractor in high gear and let the starter move the whole tractor to keep it from turning so fast and far. Once you have found the lock you have to release it. Then you rotate the notched ring CW or CCW with a screwdriver with the clutch disengaged. As the ring is rotated the pull to engage the clutch will increase or decrease, rotate the ring so the pressure increases until the clutch lever takes about 50 pounds of pull to snap-over. Now reset the ring lock and go operate the tractor for 30 minutes or so with lots clutch engagements so everthing seats in in their new positions. If the snap-over pull changes much (usually loosens) go through the adjustment procure again. It is normal for the snap-over to go up 5 or 10 pounds during this test period, more than that it is too tight. Now put the inspection covers back on and the floor broads etc. if you put it back together before the testing it traps Murphy inside and the adjustment is never right the first time. Never use the rod adjustment to adjust the clutch it doesn't but it will get the release bearing out of position for correct snap-over and clutch brake operation.
