JJ- i have never heard of a 940 so i may be way off base here, but the Deerfield plant use to make a 945 articulated loader that had about a 5 yard bucket. BIG tractor. the motor was a big striaght 6 cylinder, turbo, aftercooler, the whole works. It was the larger 25000 motor that was 844 cubic inches, not the smaller 2900. THE 844 was also used in the bulldozers as HD21 and later 21C. these motors are up around 300 HP. we use to install Cummins 855 striaght 6 diesels in their place, with some modifications. again, i may be way off base if there is such a 940.

Thats the engine the 190XT used. Tractors were about 95 HP PTO. Engine would be 100 to 105 at the fiywheel.

Hi Kent, and thank you for the information. I have another question if you or someone else could help. I have a 2900 that came out of a 940B Articulating AC tractor. I want to replace it, do you know of another compatable engine?

Cummins 6bt maybe? in reply to J. Jones, 08-24-2007 07:17:25
Just a guess but maybe the 6 cyl. "B" series might fit with proper governor and bell housing flywheel parts which I don't know if are available for industrial equipment. Just a thought. bjr
