Hi guys-my G has been smoking blue.I just bought this G and was told it sat for three years.I took head off and one exhaust valve had a little black around it.The cylinder holes had 0 ridge on top and looked good.I took one piston out and it looked like the oil ring was not expanding like it should.Maybe got hot?How do I tell if I need valve stem guides? The inside looked good and clean--just trying to firgure out why the smoke.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

You should measure the ring gap of your rings and have your cylinders measured for wear and to see if they are egg shaped. The engine may need to be rebuilt. If the cylinders are not worn you should put a new set of rings in it and do a valve job. I would put new bearings in it too. You should have that crankshaft measured too. Hal
PS: Your local auto machine shop can measure those guides. That engine isn't that hard to pull.
