Fellas, Norm Swinford worked for AC for 30 years. When he retired around 1987 he was Product Manager For Tractors.

You all can believe what ever numbers you want to, this is America. But as far as I am concerned, ALLIS CHALMERS FARM EQUIPMENT 1914-1985, by Norm Swinford, is the most reliable source you will find.

page 164: D10 5304, D12 4070.

According to an Allis Chalmers Data Book by MBI publishing, there were 1747 built with the G138 engine and 2454 with the G149 engine, for a total of 4201.

The chart shown shows beginning serial numbers. The serial number of the last one made in 1968 according to Terry Deans Tractor Data Book is sn 10172 so that makes it 9171 made.Starting number was 1001

What about all the numbers that were not used? For example: The first series 3 serial number was 9001. But the last series 2 serial number used was 7850. That happened in the middle of 1964. One year of a 10 year production run. They did the same sort of thing, starting with a new, fresh number when they switched from the original D21 to the series 2 and when major changes were made to the D17 through out it`s production run... Just to sight a few other examples.

You all are lumping the D10 and D12 all together. They share serial numbers you know.
Year--# of D10's--# of D12's
1959 - 933 - 734
1960 - 752 - 864
1961 - 478 - 150
1962 - 1009 - 637
1963 - 874 - 411
1964 - 377 - 324
1965 - 286 - 315
1966 - 281 - 284
1967 - 191 - 229
1968 - 123 - 122
totals - 5304 - 4070

Just because you find some numbers on the internet... that doesn`t mean the person who put them there knew what they were talking about.

I`m going to stick with Norm Swinford as the final authorty on most things Allis.
