I bougth a ca not running the engine was free but would not start, the manifold was rusted thru, took the head off , to a machine shop they said two valves were rusted shut. had it rebuilt there was some rust that fell from the head into the cylinder but I cleaned them out.anyway I got the head on the tractor filled with new oil and filter. but no oil is being pumped at least to the head I took the oil pan off and pulled a main bearing cap off and it looks fine. but it did have some dirt in it, and the new oil had some rust and dirt in it. I took wd40 and sprayed into the oil line that feeds the head and it ran out of the oil pump sump. I have not put it back together with more oil yet, I was wandering if anyone had any suggestions, Is my oil pump out?

also, crank the motor over a few revolutions wiht the filter off. see if it is pumping. also look inside the filter or look at the name on the filter. if it has paper insides like an auto filter, or says NAPA or WIX on it, you migh ttry a FRAM C159 and it will help. Should be packed with tight cotton wad, not paper pleated filter. See that the 1/4 inc rod thru the filter is in place and clean.

you need to prime the pump.
remove the oil line from the tee to the oil filter base. pull it off and reinstall it with the open end pointing up. with a pump oil can, pump oil in to this open end, 4-5 good pumps. now reinstall in line as it was, start your engine, and you should have oil presure. Bob
