D-17 pin removal question

Hello;

I need to take off the snap coupler (upper ) pin on my D-17 and have been soaking and tapping it for a couple of weeks now with no luck .

Can a guy use a puller on it to remove this upper pin that holds the snap coupler(to get it off)?

Hey Mike;

I ended up arc welding it , and it fixed up real fine. I didn;t have the hot torch to cut it or heat it GOOD< so this works fine.

David - I replaced mine last year on my Series IV. It's a little different than the earlier ones as the HD snap coupler drawbar mounts on the pin but the same basic principal. Mine was rusted tight. Even heat and beating with a heavy sledge would not move it but I suggest you try heat instead of a puller which may break a casting. I ended up cutting it out on the left side with a torch and then the other side punched out fine. I had found an excellent replacement pin at a salvage yard and it will come out now with your fingers after the cotter pin is removed. Good luck! Mike
