I have an Allis HD7G track loader with drive issues, after 20-30 minutes of runtime the steering clutches go out and shortly after that the fluid pressure drops and the tracks stop. If you let it sit for hours or sometimes days it works fine again for 20 minutes.. This is going on dozens of times trying to trouble shoot it appears lines and filters are good. Looking for advice.
Its a 68 low hours on rebuilt motor,

the hd7g use wet stering cluch and that why you have a stainer.

You may need steering clutche and I hope thi tid-bit works.
AC HD6 HD6G STEERING CLUTCHES
The Allis Chalmers HD6 crawler dozer and HD6G crawler loaders used the same steering clutches. As long as your steering clutches are the dry steering clutches, PRIOR TO SERIAL NUMBER 14484 AND UP!!!..., this information will apply. They originally used qty 10 each of the fiber and qty 10 each of the steel discs. You can repair your clutches with either the original fiber discs or upgrade your clutches with bimetallic discs, which give longer life and are less prone to bonding to the steel discs and seizing up your clutch pack. With the bimetallic discs, you will not have any more broken teeth on your friction plates!

To make the upgrade and conversion to the bimetallic friction discs, you need qty 12 bimetallic discs and 12 steel plates. If your steel plates are good, you only need to purchase two steel plates to go with the 12 bimetallic discs per clutch. Upgrading to the bimetallic disc pack does cost more and you are the only one that can make the decision between the two different styles of clutch packs. For some people the labor and inconvenience involved in future steering clutch repair is not a consideration, while for others it is very important.

P.S. the steering clutches are the same on both dozers.

I just saw your post and I also need some advise. I own a A/C HD6G crawler loader, model yr.1957. We can't get the right side to turn.I took off both metal covers and watched as it was driven forward. The brake band on the right side will not clamp down tight enough to stop the drum. There is very little tension when you pull back on the clutch lever.The left side has good tension. The original problem was the right side but we switched drums and now the left side works but not the right. What do we need to do since we are not mechanics. I may have not used correct terminology but I'm a cop,not a farmer. This beast landed in our laps about a yr.ago and developed problems shortly after. Can you help???

you have to clean the strainer he should be near the oil fifter transmission.

If you are speaking about the strainer in the bottom of the fluid tank then it is clean. It was the first try.

no the strainer is under the floor near the tansmission oil filter.
