My Series III calls for 20-weight oil and I'm wondering if I can put regular power steering fluid in it. Presently, I'm down about a quart, and from what I can see, it looks like the fluid in there is reddish, like transmission fluid. It works OK except sometimes at low speed while going down hill. Any suggestions?

Thanks CP

Power steering fluid is a bit thinner than 20W. I use 30W non detergent in mine and it works fine. The tractor is getting up there in age so the system probably has a little wear. The extra viscosity might restore a little of the operation. It sure won't hurt anything. I've seen red transmission fluid but not red power steering fluid but I suppose red is possible. I'd drain it all and use 30W ND.

The down hill not working may be because it is low on oil.
