Does anyone know how to set the engine and injector pump at TDC before installing rebuilt pump on 185. Thanks

Did you get you engine timed? I have a friend with a 185 that sheared the injection pump shaft and he dropped the pump gear out of the front cover while removing the pump. Since the pump shaft was broken timing the engine thru the pump window was impossible. I volunteered to install his new injection pump but I havent found any information on timing the engine to #1 TDC.I have not seen the engine yet but I assume the engine has an external timing mark on the balancer or flywheel. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Need to know the timiing spec (maybe like 23 degrees)find the compression stroke by removing #1 injector or watching your valve train, as the piston is coming up, line your pointer up front with the correct degrees on the balancer/hub. Then remove the window cover on the pump and line the timiing marks up and install making sure the marks stay lined up while tigtening.

if you would have taken the timing window off of the pump and aligned the marks BEFORE removing the pump, you would not be neering to retime.

The I-T manual AC-202 cover that well. It would be very hard to explain it on here because its about a page or so in the manual. I had to buy one when I was doing that on an XT190 I had
