D17 carb float

When i posted a while back about setting the float in my carb [marvel schebler] on my series1 D17i not sure if i got it right or not. Do you bend the two "prongs" down where they come off of the flat metal V on the float to adjust it? And is the measurement from the top of the carb as it sits on the tractor or the bottom of the bowl . I bent the 1/4" from the top. Am i right? The more i try to research it online ,the more i realize there really isnt anything that gets graffic enough to describe it for us wanna be mechanics. Thanks to all in advance. This is why i enjoy the yesterdays forums above all the rest i've seen.! thanks again!=)

Yes, i missread someones advice and bent the two pieces of metal on the float where it goes from the V and flat piece out to the two floats.unfortunatly the tractor is 90 miles away at the farm and i dont have a blown apart pic available so i have to go by memory. My good manuals got stolen last year. Thanks for all and anyones help. Going out tomorrow to farm.

I assume you have a TSX#--- cast iron body with a two poontoon brass float which is adjusted by inverting the throttle body.These are about parralel with the flat milled surface.If there is a dimple worn were the needle rides you can fill with solder and file smooth so you will not have a place for the needle to hang up.DO NOT BEND THE FLOAT HANGER.If you have bend it back to where it 90 degrees in all diections in relation to the flat surface.Please post again.
