Does anyone know if you can use WD 45 pistons in a WC. Would you have to use a WD 45 crank and would you have to change head.

the way to add compression and power is to use WD
pistons in a WD45

Dfred, Listen to Jerry. There is no chamber in any WD WC or WD 45 head be it tall/ short, 15 stud/ 12 stud, or pink, green, yellow or orange. ALL of them are flat, the combustion chamber in a W series A-C motor is in the sleeve thus changing a head does nothing for your compression ratio and in actuality there isnt enough differance in the porting of the tall/short heads for you to know it in the seat. You can put a 15 stud head on the 12 stud block with no problems. The 45 pistons in combination with a WD will yield low power as the compression ratio will be very low.

If you use power crater WD45 pistons, you have to use the WD45 crankshaft or you won't have much compression. Sometimes, some grinding is required to allow the WD45 crankshaft to clear the early block.

The head doesn't matter much, the taller head which began in 1951 only moves the spark plug to center of the cylinder.

i dont think u would have much comp. with powercrater pistons and the 201 head because they both have the notchs where it fires.. cant think of the name right now
maybe use 45 head and the pistons im not sure about the crank tho

every wd i've ever seen had a 15 stud, closed chamber (tall) head. i've got two wc's, they both have open chambered 12 stud heads, but i've seen many with the tall heads. (maybe an upgrade sometime in the past?)
