Hey I have a 65 190xt and I have heard that some of the early 190s had been updated to the larger rear ends...can I tell my measure my axles I have now??...I doubt the tractor had this done but was just wondering...Im pretty sure that tractor will need a bull gear as well as 3rd and 4th gear. the power director doesnt work but Ive heard that you can just elimate that and couple the shaft and lock it into high range...??...any help would be appricated!!!

The early XTs were either 2 7/8 or 3" the late or replacement ones were 3 1/4".the improved ones also had a 3Pinion and later a 4Pinion Diff.where the first ones only had a 2 Pinion, same as the D-19s which they were.If you have broken what you say,it sounds like you may have the LIGHT TRANS.& Diff..Someone else may blow me out of the water on this, but there are almost no Gear parts avalible for these tractors other then Junk yards.

There is not a light transmission for the 190. The later ones did have a differant input shaft. 4th gear inprovements were also made.

They only ran two sizes of axle, not 3 of them, they never ran a 3 pinion rear, early ones were all two, changed to 4 pinion on the series 3's. finding gears and parts really isn't hard at all for them.

To clear up what I said,I wasn't sure on the light axles, they were EITHER 2 7/8 or 3".Not both ALL the replacement axles were 3 1/4.I didn't say they had 3 sizes. On the 3 Pinion, all I can say is the dealer that changed several over said there was a 3 pinion for a period of time,I don't know..When we changed ours over,A-C shipped a whole new trans.-axle in exchange. On the parts issue,AGCO told us back in 2000 that they had NO interest in supporting 10-15-20 year old tractors when we couldn't get parts for a 1985 8000 series tractor. Our area went from every farm having an A-C to maybe 1 in 20 now having one,due to PARTS and service,AGCO closed ALL the old dealers that I know of in a 100Mile radius and the new ones could care less if your not there to buy a new Piece of equipment.Sorry for the long post.but I won't lie or sugar coat the PARTS matter.

the 4 pinion didn't start with the 3 series, it started effective serial number 23001. and most all parts are available for the 190xt
