Early model D10 value

I tinker with tractors as a hobby, and found a 1959 D10 that is supposed to be in good condition. I am going to look at it tomorrow. It is original, with 6 volt system, has all the cultivators along with a few implements. It hasn't been re-painted, and has been sitting outside for several years(not stored in a shed), but has been used for a garden. Doesn't smoke and man says it runs good. He is asking 2100.00 for it all. I know the D10's are pretty valuable, especially the older ones. Should I jump on this if it is mechanically sound? Thanks for any help..

D-10's underwent a lot of changes throughout their production life. I have a late model series 3 with everything except power steering. Get a few pictures up either here or at the other forum, we can tell you if your rig is homemade, or original! Get it running again, and see if it hops out of 3rd gear, just after you crest a hill.

I went and checked out the D10. Overall, I'd say fair condition, but it looks like some modifications have been made.The hand-levers for the front lift have been removed(only the long levers). Everything else seems to be there. Perhaps the biggest concern is the addition of a hydraulic pump(don't think the '59's had one like this)It is mounted on the right side front of engine(if you are seated on tractor). There is a double valve body assembly on right side of seat, which appears to be more modern. Looks like somebody 'modernized" the lift, making front lift hydraulic. I had a 59 D10 years ago, and this one is not the same. As you folks know, the D10's are tempermental to crank. I got it running enough to see that it didn't smoke, but it wouldn't run enough for me to try out the gears(battery went dead). Engine sounded good. Sheet metal is better than fair. If anybody is interested in it, for 2100.00, it is located near Petersburg, Va. E-mail me and I will give phone number. I'm not going to get it.

You may have found a treasure. Not a high production unit. 2 years ago, a guy had one at an antique iron show all painted up, was asking $5K for it. I would want to make sure it does run good, drive it around a little to make certain brakes and levers are not rusted up.
