Hydraulic Loader for D17

What's market price these days on a full hydraulic loader for a D17? I've got my eye on such a loader but it's darn near as much as I paid for the tractor! Just may be that's the going rate, though.

If it's off a series 3 and is going on a series 1 I assume it will need some type of auxilary pump - correct? This a hard job to do?

I have a Farmhand trip bucket loader on a Farmall Super MTA. Don"t know what I"d do with out it. Paid $100 for it about 15 years ago and have used that bucket for more things then I ever thought, including putting bundles of shingles on the roof. It scoops dirt, rocks, gravel, hay. Have used it to pull engines. It is great for unloading appliances out of the back of a truck. Works good for all kinds of stuff. I never put a cylinder on it. Just use the trip.

Guess it depends on what u want to do with the loader, i use my 17 with full hyd. on the loader... 2 way action on bucket an lift cylinders.... Wouldnt have it any other way..

John is on to something. The trip bucket loaders are a lot cheaper and can do a lot. I recently converted two trip bucket loaders to full hydraulic. One I did for a friend on his 9N and the other was my Ford 971. Cost for the two conversions was about $300 per loader. For my dough, I'd buy the cheap one as John (MO) says and if doesn't meet your needs, convert it. Cost would still be a ton less than the full hydraulic off a lot.

You fellas may be on to something. All I'd ever do with the bucket is move the occasional load of manure, rock, or bit of snow. The loader near me has an asking price of $2K. That's about what I paid for the darn tractor! And, it sounds like modifications would be needed.

Perhaps trip bucket is the way to go...

The ones I see start at $1500 and go up from there. The series 3 needs an aux pump the same as the series 1 will. There has been a billion yards of crap moved with a trip bucket loader and they cost you about $150. In my opinion it is well worth giving one a try and seeing if you can get by with it.
