I want to "adjust" my my C so it runs at 1650 RPM like the CA,whats the best was to do it? i've been told to put a turn buckle in the throttle rod thats goes to the govoner, and i've been told to replace the govoner spring with a stock D-17 spring? what sould i do? id there another option? whats is the best option? i want to "kick it up" so it has the same HP as a CA, if anyone is wondering thanks

By far the simple and best is the turn buckle,make a whole rod thing. most hardware stores have turn buckels, use the 1/4inch, this way if you mess-up its a no proplem to go back to start. and this way you can adjust it dead on too.

What tractor you talkin about? Aint no way to over come the inertia of the governor weights with a turnbuckle on a B, C, or a CA.

The hand throttle is connected at the governor with a spring and the different models increased the RPM's with a stronger spring.

Dick L, sorry ol friend but I have made these set ups for my puling tractors and for others too. you go to pulling where they check rpms and you got to be able to set them dead on, its the rod that goes to the carb from the govemor we are talking a bout.

The only thing you want to do without screwing up the adjustments is to try heaver springs. I have found a selection of springs to increase the RPM's to fit my wants. The other way would be to take weight out of the governor weights. That would have to be done with a gram scale as if you increase the speed out of balance they would fly apart. Both weights would have to be the exact same weight. By lightening the weights you could maybe use the same spring you have now.

so is there a spring i can go into my AGCO dealer and order? or sould i go to my hardware store with the spring and try to find a shorter one?

I was only able to find one spring in a hardware store and that was a cot spring. I use that for my highest RPM's. The three or four other springs I found in junk boxes from auction purchases. No idea what the original purpose for them were. They were just a size that would work and were different strengths. I would check the RPM's that each spring would give me and drop them in my pulling tool box. I did make a coupla springs that I cut off and bent a hook to make them work but ended up not using them.
