Looking at buying a D-14,(early model). What is the Horse power? What type of Hydraulics does it have? Does it have a 3pt. Finally, was this considered a good tractor for its day (any specific problems with the D-14)? Thanks for any help.

sven,the d 14 and 15 series tractors have bad trannys.always the 2nd or 3rd gear gives the problem..other than that they are good tractors for their time.good luck,Jackson

I'm looking at a D-14 for my brother-in-law. It has the bad 3rd gear. Exactly what are the symptoms of "popping out of gear" - under a load, or just any old time? Does the T/A help cover for not being able to use 2 of the 8 gears? Any experience with the 3 pt conversions kits for this model? It looks in good shape - sheet metal looks good, tires almost new and loaded. With 2 bt plow and small wagon the guys wants $1800. Seems about right -what do you think?

I've had a D14 since 1960 and never had a bit of trouble with the tranny. I keep the fluid level full and don't grind away on the gears. My D14 has over 7,000 hours on it.
