I CANNOT GET FUEL TO DRAW THRU THE CARB. I REBUILT IT WITH A NAPA KIT. I SOAKED IT IN CLEANER. WITH CHOKE FULL ON IT WILL NOT DRAW. IT IS GETTING FUEL TO THE CARB AS I CAN PULL BOWL PLUG AND FUEL COMES OUT. AFTER SOAKING I BLEW OUT ALL OPENINGS WITH AIR. I CAN HOLD MY HAND OVER CARB TO CHOKE AND FUEL RUN OUT OF CARB ON TO GROUND. TRACTOR IS A 1954 WD45. HELP! LOST IN IOWA.

Thanks for the help. the brass jet at the bottem of the carb was clogged. runs ok now.

If you take the plug out and you get fuel , then the engine is getting fuel. Maybe it won't start for another reason , like it is flooded

Ted sorry but just because it has fuel in the carb does not mean its getting to the engine. If the main jet is clogged up there will be NO fuel geting to the engine but the carb can still be full of fuel

Sounds like you need to open it up again and try again. These carbs are simple but also hard to get cleaned out well. As Dick said if you didn't take it all the way apart you may have clogged it up more. That little brass tube that sits at a 45 degree angle has holes in it and they need to be cleaned out with a piece of wire or as I use a tip clean from my torch set. I also do that to all the jets and holes that are in the carb then spray carb cleaner in all the holes and also use air. BTDT and have had to open up a carb 2 or 3 times before to get them right and I have rebuilt 100s of them

On some of the carburetors that have been setting for a long time it is nessesary to take a drill bit and turn it with your fingers to clean behind the power jet. You need to have the feed tube out when doing this so you do not damage the bottom of the feed tube.

You could be losing suck to the cylinders with bad manifold, manifold gasket, rings or valves. You might want to run a compression check.

If If If and only If you did not remove the feed tube and power jet or power jet seat before soaking in carburetor cleaner, the cleaner could cause gunk to break loose in large enough pieces to clog up the works and would not blow out. The gas has to flow out the bottom of the bowl and around the needle (if it is adjustable) or thru the power jet and up thru the feed tube. Also if you forget to put the venturi back in you will not have the concentrated vacuum at the feed tube to draw gas up the feed tube and into the engine. If you forgot to put the gasket between the carburetor and the manifold you would not have the vacuum needed. Even knowing better, over the years I have had the above things happen to me.

you didnt by chance put an aftermarket in line fuel filter on there ???
