I have recently aqquired a tractor and am trying to determine if it is a WD, WD45, or WC. Any help would be great.

On a WD or WD45, the tractor serial number will be where old says, but on a WC, it is in the center of the differential, and the differential and entire rear axle is one solid cast member, unless it is a wartime WC. That had a pressed steel differential and axle, and the final drives bolted on each end. Original WC and WD engines had a bolt-on plate on the right side of the engine. WD45 engine block was solid cast, both sides.

Well first off the serial number will be on the left side of the rear end houseing. Just under the brake cover, you should see a flat spot there with the numbers. Next if the engine has a bolt on side plater on the right hand side then its either a WD or WC they used the same engine. On the WC the tranny bolts right to the back of the engine and on the WD and WD45 the tranny bolts to the rear end. On the WD45 and the very late WDs the shifter has a little curve to it. With all that said it could also be a mutt tractor because parts from one will pretty much bolt right up to the others. The engines will fit in to all 3 of them. I have a WC Speed Patrol that when I got it, it had a WD45 engine in it but should have had a WC/WD engine in it, which it does now.
