WD WD45 Serial No. Question

My WD45 has the Serial No. 45-10854-G. (Can see WD45 emblem under paint) The Serial No. has only 5 didgits. The Serial No. appears to be hand stamped. What's up? Could the person that stamped the number have missed a didgit? Are there any suggestions? ie.... Equipment on tractor to place the year / month of manufacturing.

My WD has a Serial No. WD 215560 GA. Is this actually a WD45?

What do all the letters mean? I can only guess, but why guess when I have all of YOU to help me?

Are you looking at the number on the left side of the engine (apparently so), or are you looking at the actual tractor number on the back side of the left brake housing? The tractor serial number will have a "WD" followed by six numbers. It may be hard to see.

Patrick is right. The tractor serial number is located on the rear of the differential housing below the spring hole for the left hand brake. All WD & WD-45 TRACTOR serial No's. start with WD. WD ENGINE serial No's. start with WD and WD-45 ENGINE serial No's. start with 45. Incidentally, GA & G denote that these were Gasoline versions rather than two fuel engines which contained a "K" in the serial number (Kerosene). I guess I'm telling you more than you need to know?
