HD-344 and 516 applications

My father had several old TL-20D industrial front end loaders that had a 344 and the other was a 516 engine. I think they were similar as a Buda engines. Did those engine have a AG tractor application? Any general comments on these engine will be appreciated. bjr

The 8550 was a 731ci twin turbo but the N-7 Gleaner rotary combine was a 516ci single turbo which I was told true or not the engine out of a HD11 dozer without the Turbo. I understand the 11 was rated at 100hp but the N-7 was rated at 270 at the flywheel with a blower. Hope this helps. CT

the 344 is use in tL16 and dozer hd6-7 and 516 is use in grador and hd11 and tL20

i have a 516 engine in a m-100 grader, 344 is just two cylinders less. no ag tractors that i know of, except t-16 sugar babe for the 344, and a possible relationship between the engine in the ?8550? and the 516. a couple prototypes were made in the mid 80's with that 6120 twin turbo engine in a non articulated tractor, but i believe they were scrapped by deutz.
