Allis B, What year is it?

I just acquired an Allis Chalmers B.

I am trying to find out what year this is tractor is. The owner says it was a 53' but I want to know for certain.

I tryed using the serial number grid on the main page of the site, but it led me know where. I can vaugly make out the Tractor Number- 335977, but they are almost worn off so it's hard to tell.

Can anyone tell me any additional ways to find out the year of my new tractor?

I would say 1939 or 1940 as it has no electric starter or generator and has hand brakes.

My guess would be a 1940. The B serial numbers do not go that high so my thought would be that the first 3 in your number is actually a B. Check the serial number chart.

Brendan, That number might be B35977 which would make it a 1940 according to Terry Deans book. A 1953 would start at B122310. Did you get this number from in front of the shifter? That is where the serial is. Good luck. Mike
