BC mower replacement sickle bar?

I got my hydraulic lift linkages done for my BC mower on our Allis C (according to RodNH's drawings and info.,) and it works very well. I got the pitman stick cut and installed, and everything seemed to be working OK. About 1/2 way thru the first pass in the field, the sickle bar broke, about 4 inches from the ball where the pitman connects. It broke next to an old weld, where it appears to have been broken before. I took it out and re-welded it, made about 1 1/2 passes around the field, and it broke again on the other side of the old weld. At that point I gave up on it and went back to using the MF36 mower conditioner again (don't like that because the windrows are too narrow and thick to dry good.)

Are replacement sickle bars available for the BC mowers? Are the available with the pitman ball and all tooth sections attached? Any advise would be appreciated.

I bolted mine, got the bolts at tractor supply. Getting the rivets out is not easy. make sure that you don't have something binding that causes the head to break.

You might try value bilt they carry a good number of sickle bars and they may just have what you need or one that will work

I tried to find one and could not. I finally discovered that a John Deere #7 or #9 is the same except the head. Bought one at Tractor Supply, cut it down to 6', knocked the AC head off on bolted it to the JD bar

Thanks for the info. I'll check into the John Deere sickle bars at TSC. The AC head from the original bar: Is that just the piece with the pitman ball, approx. 8" long or so? That piece is where mine is broken and re-welded, but when I take it off the bar I can weld it all around and mill it flat, so it should be usable. Do bolts work for attaching it, or should I use rivets? I think the reason the bar broke the second time is because a rivet on a knife section came out, and the section moved and got caught up.
