My brother has two Allis Chalmers Model "U" tractors. Serial #s are: U21808 and U21918. Can anyone tell me what year(s) they are?
The serial numbers on this site top out at 1944 & 17801!

Butch--Thanks. I had a response from a fellow who cited a book by Terry Dean that lists these tractors as 1948. He further states that there was confusion re the serial #s for the years 1947-1950. He adds that Norm Swinford"s book "Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment 1914-1985" shows: 1949....s/n 21036-21986.
What is your reference?

Your friend is correct, they are 1948. I forgot that the early number ranges are ending numbers not beginning. I hate it when people give out bad info as fact, apologies offered. My referance is always Norm Swinford's book on A-C tractors.
