Thanks for the information about the AC tractor my friend just purchased. Its not a wd-45. Appeares to be a C model. The numbers on the left rear axle housing are: 14-12 AM3210-5
There is also a number by shifter: Tractor Number 5774
Does anybody if this is a C model tractor. What the horse power might be? What is the recommended motor oil and transmission fluid? Thanks

There will be some variation in usable HP - particularly drawbar HP with transmission ratios, losses, and tire size, but belt HP will be less affected by the differences between B, RC, C, and CA all of which used same basic engine. Original B was BE 116 ci, later B tractors (B64501-up) and RC, C, CA were 125 ci. Fuel - gas (G and GA suffix) vs distillate (K suffix) will make a big difference. Also governed speed RPM, and compression ratio will have an effect with later CE engines with PA Suffix being highest CR, RPM, & HP.

1938 B3712 BE3483 116.1 ci 1400 rpm on distillate max brake (belt) HP 15.68, max drawbar HP 12.97; SAE belt HP 13.86, SAE drawbar HP 10.16

1939 RC3004 R3060K 125.2 ci 1500 RPM on distillate max brake (belt) HP 18.21, max drawbar HP 15.25; SAE belt 16.16 HP, SAE drawbar 12.09 HP

1940 C81 CE93G 125.2 ci 1500 RPM 5.75:1 CR on GAS max brake (belt) HP 23.30, max drawbar HP 18.43; SAE belt 20.24 HP, SAE drawbar 14.06 HP

1950 B73430 CE128908G 125.2 ci 1500 RPM 5.75:1 CR on GAS max brake (belt) HP 22.25, max drawbar HP 19.51; SAE belt 19.44 HP, SAE drawbar 15.45 HP

1950 CA12 CE138073GA 125.2 ci 1650 RPM 6.25:1 CR on GAS max brake (belt) HP 25.96, max drawbar HP 22.97; SAE belt 22.63 HP, SAE drawbar 17.66 HP. This is probably a pre-production engine configuration as CA parts book shows 5.7:1 CR prior to CE153962 and 6.25:1 CR beginning CE153962 & up.

The later PA suffix motors were introduced into both B and CA tractors in 1951 - believed at motor s/n CE153962 with the 6.25:1 CR but were never involved in a Nebraska test.

There should be a letter in front of the numbers - it may be covered by paint or grease. Most likely its a B, C, or CA if number is by shifter. If 4 speed its a CA, if 3 speed, its a B or C, if tricycle, its a C or CA.

I just purchased a AC C but the number is gone to tell the year, however I can see what looks like a B only on the plate? It is a wide front with a straight axcel ?

There doesnt seem to be a letter in front of the axle housing number.
AM3210-5
The tractor has a wide front end with a 4 cylinder gas engine. It also has a wide seat and a PTO with no 3 point hitch. Just a drag bar.

You need to look at Tractor S/N and / or Motor S/N - these will be steel stamped into parts - not raised - the raised numbers are Casting numbers which may not be unique. The Tractor s/n is at base of Shift Lever. Motor s/n will be steel stamped into edge of flange on left side of engine where it mounts to transmission. It will start BE or CE.

CE are used in all C and late B and had 125 cubic inch displacement vs 116 ci for BE. HP depends on belt or drawbar and gas or distillate engine (different compression ratio) and vintage of engine - there were other changes over approx 20 year span. 22 HP belt / 19.5 HP drawbar is early CE engine gas.

If it has a wide cushion seat as opposed to a pan seat its a B or C. These will be 3 speed, not 4 speed. As someone else said, All B are wide front, some C are wide front so thats not a sure thing.

Sounds like its a B not a C, maybe a CA. On those tractors the serial number is as you sit on it just forward of the gear shifter. 90% of the Cs have a trike front end and almost all Bs have a wide front end. Look in my web site and you can see pictures of a C a WD and a WD45. If its a B its around 22HP give or take a little
