Does anyone know how good an AC 190XT is? I know someone who has one for sale that was rebuilt. I looked at the tractor data form and the diesel was turbo charged. What are some of the things I should look for if I go to check it out. I want it for pulling some disks, and hooking up a 3pt sprayer, and who knows, maybe a sickle mower, plow (how many can this tractor pull). Any info. would be appreciated....thanks .....Phil H

Another thing to consider is they probably have $2000 or better in the engine if they had a shop do it. It would hard to sell a tractor for pretty much $500 or less when he could have payed a couple grand for it a several years ago.

Yes, I agree, the owner said it had a major O.H. It could use some new rear tires, as one is cut pretty good. The side panels are missing, and the King Pins have been welded at top of the axel, and the arms that connect the front to the underneath have been welded on both sides. I imagine a 30year old tractor would have some things wrong. I can probably fine side panels. I see that all of the 190XT"s had problems with the shifting, when I checked this one out, there was a LOT of play in the shift lever, so it"s easy to see how they could get locked between gears. Maybe pulling the top of the trans. off I could find some more slop in the shifting forks that could be eliminated, and solve the kicking out of 2nd once in a while. I would like to know if this is pretty much what I can expect from ALL 190XT"s without going out to look at everyone of them....If any one can add to this it will be appreciated.....thanks ALL!!!!...Phil H.

We had a 200 we bought new in 1972, same as 190 with rearend upgrade.good high rpm power, but not much bottom end lugging power. first thing i would look for is a water filter.they have wet liners and it will pitt and water will come thru if it isnt treated. put in gear with the high low in neutral, if it wants to go the hand clutch will need rebuilt.they handle good ,excellent powersteering,good brakes good hydraulics easy on fuel.

The owner said they put new liners,piston,turned the crank,new bearings,new clutch plate, disk and throw out bearing. Did all the head work,valves etc. The only problem is it kickes out of 2nd gear, so if any one knows to do???? Like OLD said maybe I should just "run away" from this one. The owner wants $5000.00 and it has approx.100hrs. on the major overhaul. Makes me wonder why they didn't fix the trans. when they had it apart????? Thanks for the help...Phil H.

Well they are around 95HP and are good work horses, but the early ones had some tranny problems. I had one years ago I sold because it was just to much tractor for the land I own. If go an check it out make sure you drive it in all gears up and down hills. If it jumps out of any of the gears then you have a problem tractor and I would walk away from it fast because that can be big $$ to fix

You know what, I called the person who ownes the tractor and he said it jumps out of 2nd gear in low range, he never runs it in high range. Since you sold yours do you know what could be the problem with it kicking out of gear. He said it can hang up between gears also. Sounds like a lot of wear on the shifting forks. If you know of any fixes short of breaking the tractor in half and pulling out the gears let me know....thanks...Phil H

On the early ones series 1 and 2 they had tranny problems with them because they used parts that where to weak for the engine they put in. The way I understand it they used the D-19 tranny in them and the 190 engine was just to much for it. Also as far as I know there is no easy fix one it. In my area the going price for an XT190 is around $1500-2500

A friend of mine has a 190 xt, pulls 5-16 plows in river bottom land with ease, lots of power..
