Will A D17 handle 1500 lbs bales easily? I have found one and am thinking about replacimg my old WD with it. The WD will handle them. but not well.

It sure will, I have a smaller D 15 with fluid in tires and extra wheel weights that will pick up a bale easyyyyy yyy on the rear 3 pt carrier plus its front loader with a spear will pick them up front also. HOWEVER I dont run over rough ground or ruts with a bale up front for fear the front suspension is a lil weak for that but theres nooooo o problem hauling big wet heavy bales on rear at all.

My uncle used a D17 on a vermeer 605 baler that puts up a 5x6 bale, On bermuda grass it would probably be in excess of 1500# it handled them OK unless you were going uphill, it was best to back up.

Should do just fine. Its heavier then the WD is and has about 20 more HP also. The D-17 is around a 52HP tractor and the WD is around 34HP.
