Any tricks to getting the steering wheel off of a allis garden tractor? I got the nut off the top but don't want to bang on the steering wheel too hard. Is there an easy way to get it off?

Proper way would be a gear or wheel puller...or you could reinstall the nut a few threads and whack it while someone else pulls up on the wheel. Inertia and shock will usually pop the wheel off. (this is assuming it's on a taper)

Good idea with the whacking- but I'd use a heavy punch in between- no chance to mess up the nut or shaft with an obtuse blow of the hammer.
