I'm helping a friend repair his brakes on his "B" model. I have the service manual and it appears to be a straight forward task.

Is there any trick that would be good to know before I start?

Also, where is a good mail-order parts place for Alice Chalmers parts?

Thanks in advance.

CT Farm & Country 1-888-828-3276. catalog page 21 part #11123-095 42.99 ea. Not all of these tractors had the holes drilled all the way through for the retainer pins. If they are not, after you remove the hairpin clips, locate the center of the pin on the inside housing and drill a hole about 3/8" to drive the retainer pins out. After the pins are removed jack up the rear tire and turn it as you pull on the break band. All other needed instructions should be in your manual.

The only real advice that I can give is to make sure that after you remove the brake bands, clean out all of the old dirt and trash from the final drive housing that surrounds the brake drum. Be prepared that the new brake bands will not slide easily into place. You can take a screwdriver and gently drive the band around the drum.

Getting the brake spring hooked can be a little bit of a pain, but is easily done with a notched screwdriver blade.

Good Luck.
