AM serial number?

I have found an old Allis Chalmers with an AM serial number. The number is stamped on the back axle of the tractor. AM-2787-13

Is this the model/serial number?

I have pics.

This is not a serial #. AM prefix is used to designate a casting number. You will find other AM numbers on different parts of the tractor.

That depends on the tractor model. B&C- the number is near the 3 spd transmission lever. Same for CA, but it's a 4 spd. WD, WD45, left rear vertical face of the differential, starting with WD. WC, WF, RC, center of the differential, near the top, starting with the model designation. Wartime WC will be at the top, ending in 'S', for the steel rear end, not cast iron. Still other models- post a picture of what you have. Serial numbers are always stamped, not cast into the metal. They are stamped during assembly on the production line., not cast in the foundry.

I did some looking and found that it is a 'B'...it has a sickle mower on it also.
