I know this sounds nuts, but had a mouse(mice) build a huge nest in the flywheel/clutch area. (it only set for about two weeks) Started it, put in gear, let out the clutch, and bam, tractor died, and now the clutch/flywheel etc is locked up. Will not turn over. Took the little acces plate off the bottom, and took starter out. Huge nest!!! Pulled out as much as I could, but still stuck. What can I do short of splitting the tractor? Can I try and spin the PTO backwards? Any help would be appreciated.

Johan - doesn't sound like a main clutch problem to me if it killed the tractor. Are you able to depress the main clutch pedal normally? I'd suggest you put the starter back in. You should be able to put the power director hand clutch in neutral and start the tractor even if the main clutch was welded together. If you are able to start it that way, try easing the PD into low. If it kills the engine without moving the tractor, you have transmission issues most likely, possibly you are engaged in two gears at the same time locking the transmission. Try shifting in and out of the all the gears to see if you can get it to correct itself. You may have worn/bent shifter forks. But someone else who is more of a transmission expert will have to help you there. Report back what you find. Mike
