WD-bring me up to date

Just bought a nice clean, honest old WD. Been years sice I ran a WC, so would you guys check me out? The hydraulic looks like red ATF, so which ATF, or does it matter? Tranmission, rear end and final drives are regular 80-90 gear oil?

Carburator adjustment will not go rich enough-all most , but needs a tiny bit of choke to smooth out. Bet OLD, or some one, can tell me the height for the float adjustment. I may need to go a bit bigger on the main jet after I open it up and make sure it is clean.

Brings up the queation of weather it has ever been overhauled with a overbore kit. Any simple way to tell? Could a overbore/high compresson kit require a little bigger main jet?

Feels good to have a Allis again. Miss hand cranking my old "A" with 5 1/4 bore and 6 1/2 stroke. 900 RPM.

Book says 9/32 for the M-S carb. If you open it up its best to get a carb kit and the instruction sheet will laos tell you the correct setting for the float. Heres a little trick you might try. Pull the drain plug out then pull the main jet adjustment screw out. Spray carb cleaner into the main jet adjustment screw hole. Some times thats enough to clean out the crude that is causeing you the problem. If you find you need some parts I have a WD parts tractor out back. Also if you want mre power you can put in a WD45 crank and rods and make it a WD45 enogine in a WD block

Thanks. Will try your trick on makng sure the jet is clean. I am used to carbs when opening the screw will flood them. When I choke when running, I can realy black smoke it, so know the pipes and float valve are open. Kind of like it as it is. Has original paint. Converted to 12 volts. Could use a 3 point though, if real cheap and close to home.

My self I build my own 3 points hitches for them. I just got done building one for a D-17 yesterday, seems to work good but till I get to work it some will not know for sure. There not all that hard to build if you can weld and have the stuff to do it. I always use 3 point arms made for the fords since they are easy to come by
