Trying to identify an AC Garden Tractor

I purchased a garden tractor on a whim for my 60th birthday. I know nothing. I can't find any id plates. It has a 14HP Kohler engine with a shuttle lever. Not much else. I work on BSA motorcycles and wanted a change. It won't start just churns. Someone on the board has hinted that AC didn't make a 714 but a 914. How can I identify with no visible means? I know that pns and manuals are critical for service and repair, but have no clue where to go. Thanks in advance.

Here is a photo of the tractor. This is the second time I have tried to use photobucket and it appears the first was a failure.

Your pictures aren't coming through but it could be my security system. Just click on e-mail me and attach the pictures I should get them ok, don't worry I've never been able to put pictures on here either. Your e-mail will go through YT anyway.

Is it all orange or is it mostly white or is it yellow? Should have a hood with numbers and whoever told you is right they made only a 712S and a 914S in later years.

It has been repainted, but the hood and body look like they were the orange with no cream as far as I can see.

If it is a true 914S then it is one of the last AC garden tractors. Simplicity and AC are one and the same that is why somone on here suggested Simpletractors.com because you can get manuals and whatever on that sight but you can also get them from an Agco Allis dealer and I don't know where you are in Ohio but Mayer's Farm Store is a good one. That tractor probably has a left hand discharge mower deck and weighs over 700#. Good Luck CT

Thanks for the hints. This is going to be a challenge. I looked at the 300 series, but it doesn't appear to be similar. However it appears to be the only one with a 14HP engine. BTW where would the id plate be on this engine. I can't find it anywhere.

Not sure after 35 years, but if it is a shuttle shift it will be a 300 series tractor, possibly a model 314. If the deck is only an inch or so deep versus 3 1/2 (Blade to bottom of underside of deck), it is for sure a 300 series.
