Fellas, Startin to go threw a lil' B i purchased last year and repair and or replace all the little mech. things that alot folks let "build up" over the years, anyhows the gen. seems to be bein used for little more than a belt tensioner, just a couple wires cut off here an there and i dont believe its doin much in the way of chargin the batt. Is there a way I can check this out with my multi-meter at the batt. with engine off and then across terminals with engine runnin? Or maybe at the gen. itself? and one last question, if the dang thing aint workin could i put a gen. from a WD on the B? I have a gooden from a conversion my Pa did on one of his tractors. By the way there is no threeway switch and the headlights aint hooked up. Thanks for any help, Hoss

Do a motor test on the genny.. Slip belt off, and jump bat power to the armature.. and then ground field ( should be A-circuit ).

if it spins (motors ).. it should charge. .. if it charges.. it should spin.. etc.

Gennies are pretty bullit proof.. as long as the brushes are good and the mica isn't proud... and it hasn't been abused in overlaod situations too long.. etc.. if it needs opening.. lube the bushing/bearing.. whatever it has.. ress the commie if it needs it.. inspect brushes and mica..
