B carb linkage

Guys, while tinkerin on the b this mornin thought i would check gov to carb adjment.I disconnected the carb rod from the gov. arm and then advanced the hand throttle wide open(on the B this takes the gov. arm towards front of tractor)then I pulled on carb linkage to open it wide open, the carb likage fell a good 1/2 tp 3/4 inch short of goin back into gov arm. Now I know how I adjusted this on my WD45 and it worked out great, but If memory serves me right it was backward to this,ie the WD45 gov arm moved opposite and carb linkage also. Any hows my Question is, Is the carb. linkage suppose to have a bend in it cause in addition to the small dogleg mine has it also appears to have been bent in a "V" shape also to shortin it and I know I Bent the gov. arm on my 45 with the box end wrench trick when I adjusted it not the carb linkage rod. With the current setup the only way to reconnect the two is to back off hand throttle thus movin gov arm "back" towards carb arm so the two can be hooked back up. This dont seem correct to me it seems that I should take the kink outa carb arm enough so as to reconnect the two while keepin hand throttle wide open(gov arm) and ALSO keepin carb pulled wide open too.Right now the gov. has to be backed off some to reconnect. maybe some input from the ol' allis "B" fellas could clarify this for me. thank fellas, Hoss

Rex, Thanks so much for the tip on the linkage for the B. These things sometimes are a wonderment when a fella gets his hands on em. Years of shortcuts and in the field repairs,sometimes ingenous,sometimes cobbled up messes. Again thanks, Hoss

I just reconnected the governor etc on my old B. Had been bypassed with the throttle linkage put directly on to the carb arm. The throttle linkage between the governor arm and carb is nearly straight, just enough curves to fit in the narrow clearance that it has. Appears to work ok, they don't rev very high these engines tho according to the book.
