I just removed the hyd. sys. from a 49 C & installed it on my 40 B. The C had what looked 30 wt. in it, the B had what looked like 140 wt. What wt. should I use with the hyd. sys. Also, I will be using a cyl. from a CA. Thanks, Norman.

I've always used 20 weight non-detergent motor oil in my B, which is what the manual calls for. I just changed mine this weekend but instead I went with a universal transmission/hydraulic oil, I've read of lots of people using this type and I got tired of buying expensive quarts of hard to find 20 weight non-D. at hardware stores.

I would either use Hytran or Hygard from JD. Hal

This tractor uses the same oil for both the transmission and hydraulic system. I use hytran in my B. Been using it for years.
