I am restoring a C, and the motor is in excellent shape, the only leak it has in the oil filter plate, I was thinking about just using permatex gasket maker on it, do you think it will seal. I was hoping not to buy 50 dollars in gaskets and using only one.

the aluminum plate is probably warped also. set on a straight edge or drag across a piece of sandpaper and see what the pattern looks like. normally have to file or sand off a little to get it flat. i make my own gasket also of fiber material with a littel permatex on it.

I agree with DickL,,, The Oil base gasket is quite easy to make yourself.. Plus when I order for the Local Agco store, there is now a surcharge on every order...

You should be able to get just that gasket from an AGCO dealer. I know I have never had any problems getting any part I needed for my Cs and thats where I got most of them. If you don't have one close most of them will sell you the part over the phone and then ship it to you. I just did that for a gasket a friend needed for his Farmall 450 cost about $5 fro shipping but it saved me $30 in gas so it was worth it

I have made them from cork gasket material. It needs to be the thicker coarse material rather than the thin cork in the roll you can buy at the farm stores. Make sure you do not have paint under the gasket or you will get to make another gasket.
