engine sn for a 1956? CA tractor

We have a tractor with the SN: CA37738. From what we've read, it's a 1956. We're trying to find the engine serial number to make sure the engine is the original. Where can we find this number at? On the engine itself, we found the number AM4033-1. We're pretty sure that it isn't the engine's serial number though. We were expecting something that starts with a 19. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have any idea what this tractor would run for if it's in good condition with no problems at all? Thanks.

Well welcome to orange ness.

MY TRACTOR IS A CA, I THOUGHT MY TRACTOR WAS A 56 WITH THE SERIAL #37992, BUT I HAD FOUND A WEB SIGHT THAT UNFORTUNATELY I CAN NOT FIND RIGHT NOW. BUT THE WEB SIGHT SPECS MY ENGINE/TRACTOR AS A 57.
SO I SUSPECT THAT THE COMPLETE TRACTOR WAS NOT FINISHED UNTIL THAT YEAR. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, WITH DEALER'S AND OWNER'S NAMES. THE TRACTOR WAS NOT PURCHASED UNTIL 58. DOES YOUR TRACTOR HAVE THE RADIATOR VENTS? MINE HAS A THERMOSTAT. I'LL KEEP ON CHECKING FOR THEIR WEB SIGHT THAT HAS ENGINE SERIAL SPECS. BUT YOU CAN FIND YOUR ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE LEFT SIDE CASTING THAT CONNECTS TO THE TORQUE TUBE. JUST BEHIND THE AIR FILTER.

JUST A NOTE: I HAVE A LOT OF INFO IF NEEDED. I AM DISMANTLING AND PAINTING MY TRACTOR AS WE SPEAK.

I AM A DEALER OF TRACTOR PAINT ALSO. MY PAINT MATCHES 99% TO THE ORIGINAL. COMES FROM AN OLD WELL ESTABLISHED MANUFACTURER, IS A ALKYD ENAMEL. COMES IN QUARTS/GALLONS/ YOU CAN ADD HARDENERS AND ALSO COMES IN SPRAY CANS. I SELL IT FOR A LOT CHEAPER THAN SAY PPG AUTOMOTIVE PAINTS THAT MATCH 99% AND ARE AS GOOD DURABLY. BUT DO NOT COME IN SPRAY CANS. NAPA'S AND TRACTOR SUPPLY'S PAINT IS TO RED. WELL SORRY I GOT OFF THE SUBJECT.

We used a wire brush to take most of the paint off on the left side, especially in the area of the air filter but did not find any numbers. On the right side of the engine, we did find another number underneath the AM4033-1 number. It is F-22-F. It has some dots above and below it. - - - - - - F - 22 F - - - - - -

These are the only numbers we've found on the actual engine. Thanks for the help.

Numbers you are thinking about including -19 I believe are casting numbers which may relate to casting year. Engine s/n will be steel stamped into edge of flange on left side where engine attaches to torque tube. It will start with CE and end with 2 letters probably PA. It is not possible to say if engine is correct since there is no definitive list - however I have compiled a list which I provided to Brian Smith Link - based on that a number in range of CE 199700 PA would be probable. When you find it, I would like to add it to my list. best. Ed

We found it! Right where you said it'd be ACEd. The number is CE 195536 PA. Thanks.
