My brother found a little Allis B on the road not too far from work and wanted me to check it out, and give him my opinions on it. I'm wondering what they're really worth.

My brother said he was asking $1800, comes with a 1 bottom plow.

I looked at it really quick but it was all i needed.

The rear rim(s) are shot from the tube leaking and not being fixed when the problem started, and it has a really bad new paint job. Right over the grease and everything, didn't even try to pound out a couple easy dents in the hood and grill. Some of the orange paint was scraped off the screw-on oil filter and underneath was a real old one that was quite rusty, almost like the one that was on our 1600 Oliver for 10 years.

It didn't impress me in the least. My brother drove it around and he said it started fine and droe good, but it needed brakes. He was about ready to go back and buy it but I think I've got him talked out of it. Just looks like a can of worms for the poor soul who does buy it....

Apparantly the guy has a farmall cub in his garage that's #2 off the asembly line. My brother really wants on of those and tried talking the guy into selling that, but he said he'd have to have $30,000 for that one. Whoop de doo- it's #2. For all I care it could be #1, 1001, or 1,000,001. It's still just a tractor.

Any opinions of the B's value? I'm more of a MF and Ollie guy, only been on 2 A-C's in my life.

If he can get 1800.00 for it, that is what is was worth to the person that bought it. To me it would be worth about 600.00. I have bought at least a dozen B"s and C"s for around 600.00 Some less but none over.

Sounds like quite a deal. Check and see if there is a thousand dollar bill in the tool box. If there ain`t, step away! B`s in that shape just don`t often bring $1000.

kinda what I was thinkin... My brother, after I looked for .5 seconds and saw what I saw, and gafve him my opinion, he still wanted to buy it. He was told by the guy that he got it for $1750 (maybe he moved a decimal..... .) and he had to have $1800 for it.

I told him that even a 8n would be better, if not for just the simple fact that it has the standard 3 pt. hitch. Even those don't sell for that much. Tgen he asked me what i thought, if any tractor, he should get.....
I listed off the Masey 35, 65, 135, 165 (hey, we've already got one of those....) and a ford 600 or so, maybe a WD would be better, etc....

trouble is like the saying goes- A fool and his money are soon parted, and unfortunately my brother is such a fool when it comes to equipment like this.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts guys
