This seal is 2 inch OD and 1.250 ID. It is a Napa seal Number 12456. Napa had them in stock.

i used a CR 12458 per my old records. this is installed into the differential carrier that bolts to the differential case and preloads the differential bearings. the final drives just slide thru the seal and have 4 bolts to hold each on. there is also a seal inside next to the brake if you are trying to keep the gear lube inside the FD case. the first seal keeps the trans fluid inside that case.

I realize there is no gasket, but thanks to your diagram I see there are two SEALS not one as I had thought. Do you know of an aftermarket part number to replace these SEALS?

Thanks

The aftermarket supplier I use used to be called Detroit ball. I would have to look thru old invoices to find there name they use now. If I dont have a bearing or seal in hand at the time I want to order I just call Sandy Lake in PA. I let the supplier worry about numbers. I only worry about the dimension"s. That is what they have parts books and lists for.

No Such Gasket in reply to Randy Knowlton, 05-17-2007 08:57:07
The final drive bolts directly to the transmission metal to metal. You will have pinion shaft seals in the transmission and the final drive also a gasket to the outter plate under the pinion shaft cover.

The seal you see at the far top/ left actually installs to the right on the inside of the final drive and seals on the large diameter of the pinion shaft left of the pinion gear.
