My friend grandpa who i bought it from said it was a 1947 wd50. I cant find any listings for a wd50 ,and the numbers on the rear diff are WC87296 this tractor is very clean good for resto . it ran when it was parked 8 years ago . and i would like to clean it up the engine casting numbers are U3019-23 any info on exactley what i have bought would be appreciated

The old feller was either pullin your leg or he didn`t know a thing about his tractor. I think the number you are giving is an engine number, from the side of the engine rather than the serial number from the rear of the differential housing. In either case it seems like you've got a WC tractor.

Its a 1939 WC acording to the Serial number.
WC = model tractor 87296 = serial number range for 1939

The first to letters you list in the serail number tell you the story. Its a WC, run those numbers on the left and click on serial numbers then allis the WC to find the year it is

To, old I have tried that with out luck maybe iam looking in the wrong places but i did find a engine stamping. it is w91290k

old, thanks i figuered out what iwas doing wrong it is a 1939 wc now to the fun part of going through it and getting it running.

Not all that hard to get one running. I do it all the time, shoot I have 30 plus tractors so I have BTDT many times. By the way a WC has the same engine as the WD has. If you need help just let me know. Shoot I even have a few parts for the WC/WD. One thing I would do to it no matter what is pour about a 1/2 cup of tranny fluid in each cylinder. That will loosen up any stuck rings and also prelube the cylinders for when you do start working on it

I like the transmission fluid idea, bu turn it over slow with a wrench or a crank before hitting the electric starter, ( if so equipped) or trying to tow start it. I think you could bend a rod or worse!

Thats why when you turn them over for the first time you have the plugs out. Good idea on any engine that has sat for a long time because who knows what maybe in the cylinders
