Hi again,
Still chasing details on this governor. The carburettor has been linked directly to the throttle control and it does run ok, but a bit jumpy.
I tried the governor, and it returns fairly smoothly with the engine running so I presume it should work. Question is, how should it be hooked up, and what springs etc are required at what direction?
Help would be appreciated very much.

Hi Rex,

Here's an assembled view of the governor and linkages in pdf format that may help. It's for the early Bs. It doesn't show the oil line that goes from the cylinder head to the governor assembly as indicated in Dick's diagram. I am not sure when that oil line was added by AC. My '42B has it but your '40 may or may not have it. I'm trying to understand why anyone would disconnect a good working governor on a tractor. Have you checked out the governor internals to verify every thing is there and appears to be functional? Give close attention to the flyweights for any broken pieces. Mine broke on me once and required replacement.

OK, so I take it that the carburettor is directly linked to the governor arm. Am I right in thinking that the throttle control linkage would go to the top short lever above the governor, and that a spring links it to the governor arm?
Most of that appears to be on the B, but has been bypassed at some stage. Will have another look at it.

OK thanks fellas. I have checked out the internals and all appears to be in good condition, but the governor lever was very sloppy in the bushing. I reckon they may have disconnected it due to the sloppiness in the lever etc making it erratic. I have made up another mounting pin etc so now it fits a lot better. Am in the process of getting it all back together and linked to the carburettor again.
Will let you know how it goes.
