Yes, I am daydreaming again.I've got two D17s and a Ford 5000 tractor. I am making small square bales, but sometime in the future I think that I will be wanting to make round bales on shares and selling my portion of the hay, or something along those lines. I know that there are some round balers which I could use with the 5000, though it might be marginal on some of our Ozark hills. Sooooo, what I am wondering about is a bigger tractor capable of running round balers including newer balers which can netwrap bales. What I am mostly looking for is value for my money. Probably this means an open station tractor and an older baler which could be upgraded later as more money becomes available. Okay, okay. I will also admit to a bit of desire for just a bigger tractor. The timeline on this type of purchase is 12 months to 12 years or more. The budget is as small as reasonable. I definitely lean toward Allis Chalmers. An older friend of mine in MN used AC tractors, so I got used to them and since I respect him, I guess he had good reasons. So, any suggestions about models to look for? 185 or 190? What horsepower range offers the best value? What kind of price range to look at for 75-110HP diesel, with or without loader?
