I have a D17, wide front end, gas, series 3, all original that I am wondering what is worth. It is in need of a repainting but all metal is straight and not rusted behind reasonable sanding. The seat also needs replaced. Front tires are newer. It runs, but definately will need brakes and a gas tank steaming and probably inner coating. It also have the original trip bucket with it, but it would need some work to make it properly functioning again.

D17's are very popular tractors and command good prices. Series 1 2 and 3 gas tractors in good running condition usually bring around $2500 in my area. Series 4 of course are usually higher. The condition of rear tires can effect the price quite a bit, assuming your are usable and 50% tread or better, you would need deduct only a few hundred dollars for the brake work and the tank cleaning. Usable trip bucket loaders are worth $100 to $200, so one that needs work is worth scrap metal price. I would think that if you could fix the things that need attention on the tractor you would likely capture your costs back plus a little. If it were what I would consider field ready you might be looking at getting closer to $3000 than around the $2000 you could likely get now.
