I have a FMZ6A3A magneto. On the box it says it is for L,LO.L6,L90 Monarch-Allis Chalmers. Is this the engine model # or the tractor model #.If it is the engine # does anyone know what Tractor # would be. Thanks

FMZ6A3A... FM= Fairbanks Morse brand, Z = model of magneto (Z is larger housing mag), 6 = 6 cylinders, A = Base mounting, 3 = Manufacturers application key number which is Allis Chalmers, A = could indicate some type of special variation of cap, lag angle, or position of ground switch or other variation.

It's a regular high tension 6 cylinder FM magneto, CW clockwise drive facing drive end of mag, 45 degree impulse lag angle, UA drive cup with 1/4" drive lugs, with base mounting.

Fits: Allis Chalmers early L,LO,L6,L90,& Monarch L. NOTE: Later L,LO,L6,& L90 used a SAE flange mount 45, CW magneto.

Impulse could be changed for it to fit any engine or tractor using a CW drive base mount 6 cyld. mag but the rotation can't be changed to CCW.

If the box said Monarch, then it's probably for the old Monarch crawlers that AC bought back in the 20's or 30's.

How many cylinders is it for?? I.E. how many plug wires hook to it. A good number of those mags would fit a lot of engines. I know the one from a B will fit say a C, CA, WC, WD, WD45 plus a good number of farmalls also
