I have a B and I just hooked up a hyd cylinder and I never owned or used the B before.
How do I make sure there is enough fluid in it?
also does the pto have to be engaged for it to work? I had the tractor running in neutral and worked the lever and nothing happend. I tried running the pto and doing it and nothing happend what is the correct way? how do you check fluid level?
please help or call me 989-295-2411

Steve thank you very very much! Could be I was just in to much of a hurry after hooking it up and the wife needed help with the kids. I also didn't want to stand there with the mower running waiting for the hyds to work. It is very likely I didn't let it pump up long enoguh and will work on it sunday I will first un-hook the mower so I can run the pto with no worries.

Old I am sorry the farmalls I was used to Farmall Cubs and A's -140s mostly had the 2 different plugs when filling the trannys and stuff. thank you for the info on the bigger tractors!

make sure it has hydraulic oil or 20 wt type oil inside. will not work with 80-90 gear lube. --- you need to engage the pto shaft lever, then let out the clutch so it spins. now the pump is runnig. when you pull up on the lever the direct the oil thru the pump to the hose on top side of the valve. you can loosen up the hose or remove it and point the outlet 1/4 inch pipe or hose into a bucket and engage level. see what comes out. it dont put out too fast or too much, dont worry about pumping it all out. test at 1/2 throttle.

On the left hand side just under the clutch pedal is a plug. Remove that plug and check your fluid level there. It should be up just high enough that it doesn't run out when the plug is removed. PTO has to be engaged and the clutch pedal up for the pump to work

same place. remove plug, check level, add oil if needed. all at the same place.

Ok thanks I am use to the Farmalls. they have a fill plug and a full level plug.

Not all of them do. A farmall 450 his a plug you pull and thats also the same place you use to fill it. On your B the hyd fluid, tranny, rear end and PTO are one in the same oil.
