I have a 67 D17 series IV, I hooked up my disk and started to work ground, but when I start to lower the disk, the motor seems to labor like I have to force the disk down. No problem to raise, I am wondering what I'm missing. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Vernell - do you have a one or two way remote hydraulic cylinder on you disk? If it's a one way, the lugging down is the hydraulic pump trying to pump fluid toward the "down" side of the remote that is not connected. The fluid instead has to dump out through the relief valve so that's all the noise you are hearing.

If it's a two way cylinder set up for only one way, buy another hose and hook up the 2nd side and the noise will go away. If it's a one-way only, try only pushing the down lever only part way. There should be a position where it lets it go down without trying to pump the other side. Mike

Thanks Mike, it is a two way cylander, and I have it on my two remotes I don"t know it this makes a difference, it is a john deere two way. I had to change the ends to make it work with my remotes. I have an IH 2 way on a bush hog and it works ok, up and down no problem. First time I"ve
used the j.d. Would it make a difference if I reversed the hoses? Tkhanks Again, Vernell

I'd try swapping hoses on the remote and see what it does. If you get the noise on the "raise" position of the lever when "lowering" the disk, the problem is with the cylinder or hose connections. When you swapped out hose ends on the JD cylinder to fit the tractor, do they both exactly match between the tractor & cylinder? If you are using standard Pioneer ends, both must be either ball tips or nipple tips, you can't mix them on the same connection. Mike
