Hi, a first posting to this site due to the fact that I purchased an Allis Chalmers B today. Forgot to get the serial numbers and I haven't got it home yet, but am trying to identify it.
Owner thought it may have been 1946, but I am not sure. Has the raised curved front axle, hand brake on each side, no starter or battery box so the tool box tapers right down to the torque tube. I also noted that the throttle position is at the top of the steering column, not half way down like i have seen on some photos. Can anyone shed any light on this one? I'll post the numbers when i get this little sweety home.

Hello;

I have a 51 Model B that runs and starts good. My question is how often should you change the oil? I am running detergent 30w oil with new filters each time. I also cut five acres with it each time I fire it up , it usually takes 1/3 of a quart to do so.
The oil gets darker after about three to five mowings, so how often should I change the oil
?

Rex. Only the serial number will reveal the exact model but it is an early B perhaps 1939 or 40. The handbrakes were discontinued around 1940.
