Well reconditioning of the old "45" continues, Had a noise in the left front wheel WFE. Found the inner brg was completely dry and rusted.

Questions

1. Are the WFE brgs the same as the brgs on a narrow front end. Some one was good enough to list the Timken numbers in the archives but did not differentiate.

2. Found what looks like a shim between the back of the grease seal and the spindle support. Is there supposed to be such a thing or maybe the last guy shimmed it up to allow for wear in the bearing.

The wheels, hubs, bearings, etc. are the same for wide or narrow front. My original AC op manual also has parts illustrations, but no part numbers. First to go on the spindle is a retaining washer, then bearing spacer, hub seal, seal retainer, inner bearing cone. Your shim is likely that 'retaining washer'.
