Allis C gasket question

With the radiator and radiator support off my Allis C there is a gasket between the radiator support and the top of the steering housing. The gasket appers to have (or had)a hole in the middle...is that correct or should the gasket be solid accross?

Would not make any difference. I have never used an Allis Chalmers gasket when replacing them. I just cut a gasket from NAPA gasket material. I have never taken one apart that had a hole in the center of the old gasket and I never cut out the center when making a gasket. Doubt very much if the correct police would check your tractor at a show and the radiator would be removed to see if that gasket had the center cut out, if it had a hole when coming from the factory.

Thanks Dick. I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't be messing anything up mechanically by covering the hole...but I guess not. That hole must be for squirrels when the tractor's apart unless it's a clean-out hole.
