turbo charging a 2800 engine

On the farm we recently picked up a 190xt sn 190 4344 dxt which has a 2800 engine. The engine must have been swapped in out of another tractor or combine. I was wondering if you can easily convert the 2800 to being turbo charged like the 2900 because to my understanding they basically are the same engine. Thanks in advance for any advice

I don't know what pump your 2800 has, but most of the combine engines didn't have a timing advance on them, you would probably want a advance on the pump if you add a turbo.

There are several differances on the turbo engine. It has an oil cooler which has a differant water pump setup. The oiling system is routed differantly. Of course the manifold are differant. Does the engine have freeze plugs or the 2 bolt covers on the right side of the block? The oil cooler needs the 2 bolt type.

Yeah it has the freeze plugs not the two bolt cover. Thanks for your advice

There are two 2900 engines on Ebay right now...both are out of combines.
That might be easier and cheaper.
I think the 2900 has an oil cooler that the 2800 doesn't?
